Check this site out - very cool. You see a map of North America and a search engine on top. I've seen online maps but this is better than most. Type in something like "Chicago Sushi" or "Washington DC hotels" (for those going to the Rally). It shows you a local map and lists the 10 closest hotels/sushi places whatever the case may be. Click on one of the icons (e.g. hotels) and it will give you the address and phone number and an option to get directions either "to" or "from" this location.
You can also just drag the map with your mouse and let go when you are looking at whatever you are interested in. The map flows on your computer screen like its right there. Its one of the best web tools I've seen. The zoom feature works great and its almost instantaneous. I kept clicking on the down arrow starting in the Chicago area and I ended up in the Gulf of Mexico. I believe that its only Windows based right now unfortunately.
