Get a cd player that will play mp3s. You can also get a wireless network device that allows the streaming of music and movies from the pc to the home theater. An Ipod type device that will interface with the home stereo I don't think exists. Maybe an adapter to go from the headphone jack to an input on the stereo. Most devices that interact with stereo's are over bluetooth. Don't really know if there are others...

If you use iTunes, or most mp3 programs, you can make music CDs from what you have. Then you can play them in the CD player, car, portable or wherever.

All you need is a 1/8" miniplug (the size of a headphone jack) to RCA adapter. They're cheap and you can find this kind of stuff anywhere, esp. Radio Shack. I've got my computer jacked through an 8-speaker system.
Alternatively, if you've got WiFi @ home, check out Apple's Airport Express w/ AirTunes: http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/

You can connect an iPod directly to your stereo, either with Apple's dock/line-out combo or with something similar like the PocketDock (less expensive). I'm C6 with no finger dexterity and find the iPod very easy to use. I use an iSkin with it so it doesn't slip out of my hand. I also use my iPod in the car with an FM transmitter connection.

my apologies if i offended you by my post; you just didn't sound sure of what you were saying.
btw, *most* devices that interact with stereos are *not* over bluetooth at this point.

I am sometimes at work when posting and don't have time to sit and double check my posts for clarity. I primarily was talking about wireless, it is kinda the new thing. Bluetooth enabled cars and trucks, bluetooth enabled phones, and bluetooth enabled car stereo systems. You are correct bluetooth and other wireless methods are not used for the home stereo. However there are products to interface things like your tivo to your pc over wireless b/g networks. Nothing of which applies to the original question. Maybe I had just got up on the wrong side of the bed that day or something. Any way my appologies for being harsh when all you did was make things I said more clear and understandable.

A bluetooth "ipod" and stereo would be kinda cool. Come home and it would auto-connect and play thru, in the car it would do the same.
I have a bluetooth cellphone and in my van. Never have to take it out of my backpack. When I get in van it auto-connects and all my calls are done thru voice commands, mutes the radio.
Bet we see more down the road.

Hell, we just hit on the next "big thing"! A bluetooth adapter that plugs into the aux input on receiver and s/w on your 'puter to send music out the bluetooth port.

mcduff - that's what apple's airport express does, except over wifi.
i'm pretty sure bluetooth doesn't have near enough range, unless you're in the same room... and then you might as well just use a cable.

Yeah got caught up in bluetooth thinkin'. Airport Express is much better home solution.
Still wonder if a bluetooth solution would work for a ipod type, something you could transport between home and auto, with no connection issues. If you just kept the ipod near receiver(supposedly 30ft for bluetooth) distance wouldn't come into play.
Not sure of bandwidth capability of BT either. Oh well, back to the drawing board. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
