I need to get a fax machine and am hoping you guys have some suggestions. Please remember that I am a computer idiot, so simpler is better. I was looking at different sites and thought that a lazer one might be better for me, cause if inkjets run out I could be in trouble! Hoping to use it as a printer also. We have a 3 year old Dell set up and an Averatech notebook that is new. Can fax machines be used with a notebook? Jim and I are moving to Wisconsin and at this point I'm thinking we will need a live-in computer geek!
This may get a bit pricey. I agree with you about the LaserJet versus the inkjet and having to change cartridges. What is your budget?

Paul, I guess I was thinking of something smaller, I won't be printing large quantities. We have had a Hewlett Packard Office Jet, says it's a printer, fax, scanner and it has been problematical for the 5 years we have had it. Plus I am assuming these tech things are designed to only last so long. I'm wondering if Canon or Sony has had good results for anyone. I was expecting to pay around $300.00.
Thanks, Debra

Yep, Paul, I think that is the one. I will take Jim to Circuit City tomorrow and we will look at it. I always cringe at going to those places, kinda used car salesmen, if you know what I mean! For some reason I feel more comfortable with Canon rather than Brother, will check the warranties, simplicity.
Thanks, guys!
Debra,
Good idea to go to the store and check things out. I believe Circuit City has a 14 day return policy for their electronics, but the printer should come with a full, one year warrenty from Canon.
Good luck!
