Stormie, I was going to reply to your post in pic forum, but saw this so:
There are many ways to do this but it all depends on your s/w and such. The *simplest* way is actually posted in the pic forum. It is the top link over there. Jeff has written a routine that lets you pick a picture on your computer, then it uploads it, resizes it and downloads it back to your computer using a filename of your choice. Then you would just post the *shrunk* pic back up like you already have.
Give it a try, I've used it flawlessly.
Good luck, McD

Stormie, I think I know where it could be going wrong. I am assuming that you got to the point of picking your picture and hitting the "upload" button and that it appeared that the file got sent.
The last step of the flow should be a popup window asking if you want to open or save this file; you want to save it, not open it. Then you will fill in a filename to save it to. This would then be the filename to post to the picture forum. If you say "open" it will just pop the picture up in your browser.
Let me know if this works. If it does not, are you using Internet Explorer on a Windows XP computer? That is what I use and you may be getting different results on a different setup. Don't worry, we were all not very savvy at one time.

The ME computer must be automatically "opening" the resized pic and not giving you the option to save. This could be occuring because the file type coming back down is listed as an .html and ME is set to automatically show/open this filetype.
A workaround; after you see the new picture, you can choose to save it anyway. Just right click on the pic and use the "save picture as" option and give it a filename to save to. This will work just as well, with one extra step.

Get this free program. When you're viewing the picture, either click view/resize or hit CTRL-R. Pic a size, then hit "S" to save the file. Save it as a new file and don't overwrite your original.

Stormie, whew you been workin' hard at it. I've never worked with ME so can't be much help there.
Did you try the workaround method I gave? Seems like that oughtta work.
The file description is really just a caption heading for the pic, you can put anything you want in there.
