My level of injury is L1, L2 (11 years back). I can walk... though, most part of my right leg is numb with pain. Neurogenic bladder. I self-cath 7 to 8 times a day.
I have pain in my fingers( right-hand) for the past 18 months. Test results showed deficiency of calcium and Vit. D3. Took supplements for around 6 months, with breaks in-between. But have stopped it, since it has increased my UTIs largely. The pain in the fingers is still there.. How can I help myself.. Looking forward for some suggestions.

Hi,
Pleaes give more information. Did your doctor think the pain in your hands ws from low calcium and vitamin D? Did the pain improve when on it? Can you describe your hand pain- is it numbnes or shooting pain?
Have you had any other workup for your hand pain such as plain xrays?
What leads you to believe the calcium/vit D increased your UTI's?

Do you or have you used crutches? If so, there is some possibility that you have carpal tunnel syndrome.

Yes, my doctor felt that the pain was from low calcium and vit d3. A little improvement was there, when I took the supplements. It is neither shooting pain, nor numbness. The pain lasts for around 15 minutes in the morning, after I wake up. Kind of stiffness and pain, when I fold and unfold my fingers. Not only in the mornings, but even during day-time, after a nap.
I was tested for arthritis. ASO, C-reactive protein, Rheumatoid factor showed normal levels, in blood tests.
After I start the intake of supplement(500 mg calc.+vit d3, a day), a cloudy urine with odour starts within a week. When I stop it, it subsides. The urine culture result showed infection.
But last year, when I started the supplements initially, it was not this bad. I didn't get infected, this often.
No, I have not used crutches.
Thanks a lot SCI-Nurse and SCIfor55yrs for ur replies and concern.
