There was a webcam option based on the chat we're using now. It's a separate installation. But if it works maybe it would be worth using. It should be identical to our current chat except offer webcam broadcasting for webcamXp users. I think Mac users will not be able to take advantage of it at this time but I'm not sure.

I don't have a webcam right now to test it. I'll try it at home tonight. If it gives a little added capability without any downside I could transfer over our membership to it.

So... please give it a try. Ten second registration required.

Well... I set up a webcam after all. It's using WebcamXp Pro which expires in 21 days as I couldn't find a link to the free variety. Or maybe the chat provider has a deal with the webcamxp folks. Dunno.

No matter I can't get it to work anyway! Although the normal chat works as expected.

Webcam isn't working for me, I didn't try the chat. I get the java applet window, but on the status bar it just says "loading java applet." I let it sit there for about five minutes and it never loaded. I tried with both IE and Mozilla 1.7.2.

Speaking of webcams, check this webcam software out, it lets you pan and zoom the camera around.

Jeff, I tried Mozilla, Firefox and IE6 and I was not able to view the webcam. I will try again later. When I do get to the Keck Center page, it will not load.

Jim, I use Polycom, ViaVideo (H.323), and the zoom feature, along with panning, is a lot of fun. Maybe we can come up with some links that are interesting and allow for zoom and pan, in real time.
