Sorry for the off topic post. Dr. Huang asked that I email him my latest MRI and was wondering how this is done? I spoke w/a few people in the radiology dept. where the MRI was done but they said theres no way to email them. I noticed others on this forum had been able to email the MRI's. Thanks.

Two ways we do it. One is a hospital that keeps them in digital format, but sounds as if you do not have this convenience. The second, tak the MRIs to Kinkos, or similar place, and have them do a high resolution film scan then put it on cd.

damn, got that can't type bug again, had to edit.

Dan G,

Depending on the size of the image, you can directly attach a file to your email and send it to Dr. Huang. Most mail servers have a limit to the size of email attachments, for example 5 Mb. You may have to send multiple emails with attachments.

Alternatively, if you have web site, you can upload the pictures to your site and send the URL address to Dr. Huang to download. This can be done either via FTP or put the picture on the web site directly.

Hmm, at the present, we I don't think that we have the space on this site if everybody started to attach large multi-megabyte images to their private topics. Perhaps I can talk to Jeff about the possibility of offering space on our main server for this purpose.

Wise.

I am moving this topic over to the Computer Forum. Wise.

I had forgot to add that you want them in RAW format. Any type of compression degrades the immage. Kinkos will scan and burn each immage. Since this is in a RAW format, you will either need to send each file or use a server or immage hosting service.

Hi Dan G,

My MRI can be found online at http://www.chris-olson.com/injury/MRI/default.html.

I enlarged one image that shows the damage to my cord fairly well here (http://www.chris-olson.com/injury/corddamage.html).

Thanks all for the replies. I had taken these films to a DR. in NYC yesterday and later stopped by a Kinkos to have them put on disc. Unfortunately, they weren't able to help me after about 15 min. of trying. I had to catch a train and couldn't wait to maybe speak w/a manager.

Booster, did you have this done? just want to confirm that its a "high resolution film scan" that I should ask for? I may try my local Kinkos. Can this be done on a desktop scanner? Thanks.

I'm feeling very gadgetly challenged!

Telerad is a high speed transmission which I'm not sure of its availability in China. Not really sure if the Dr. means email. And I'm not sure if a patient can just request such a service at a local hospital. Telerad (http://search.iwon.com/commerce/multisearch.jsp?searchfor=telerad&symbol_search_select=short&PG=home&SEC=srch)

This is just a simple Google search.

I will double check the lingo and methods. It is basically a scanner with a mirror on the lid, scanned at a high resolution, then saved to a disk.

I'll let you know tomorrow.
