Anyone know of a way to delete a file that refuses to be deleted?

Lighter fluid and a torch http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif.

Actually what kind of file, where's it located, how have you tried?

It's my Pcillin file. I installed Norton on my computer several months ago and should have deleted that file first maybe. I"m not sure if adding Norton screwed that software up, or if the file became corrupted when I had a worm several months ago. I'm not a computer expert by any means. The only way I know to delete a file is to go to the add/remove area and do it that way. It will begin the deleting process, then it glitches and stops. I"m having some error messages because of this at times and I'd like to get rid of it. Norton says I"m virus free so apparently I"m bug free, but I'm thinking this file is simply corrupted and would like to get rid of it for good.

I'm not sure I get what you're asking. Are you trying to uninstall PCcillin, or delete files left over after uninstalling it?

If you're trying to delete a file, and windows is telling you it can't, most likely a program that is running has locked the file. You'll have to stop the program before you can delete the file.

If you're trying to uninstall PCcillin, and it's not working, try to run the install again, the uninstall it.

I am trying to uninstall PCillin itself. I'll try your suggestions - still learning all the ins and outs of computers so sorry I wasn't clear. Thanks for the ideas.
