I am shopping for a PDA. I have my eye on a Sony model (not sure of exact details). I currently have an HP desk top and want it to be as compatible with it as possible. I have moderate/good hand function, so this is not really an issue. I want it to be Word compatible also. I am going to use it for scheduling, date book, address book, organizer, school, and to overall simplify my crazy scattered life. Can anyone give me input, advice, or any type of suggestions?

Amanda, I am also looking at one and I think that anything with the Windows pda version or the Palm software will connect with Windows so thats something to look for I am looking at Dell.

Amanda, you may want to take a look at Blackberry PDAs.

I used a Palm back in college... I'd recommend something by them. The Windows-based systems are nice, but a bit pricey IMO. Plus, I liked the Palm OS "graffiti" (their style of writing recognition) better... it seemed more accurate to me. But, I haven't used one for a couple years, so I figure both systems have improved. I don't know anything about Blackberry. The Sony CLIE's are Palm-based from what I recall. I think they may be a little on the pricey side, but I haven't looked for one recently. I've heard good things though.

My suggestion: go to www.palm.com (http://www.palm.com) & pick based on price. From the sounds of it, you don't need a loaded model with a fast processor & gobs of RAM.

From a quick glance, the Palm Zire 31 looks like it'd be a good match.

For MS Word compatibility, get a copy of a little piece of software called "Documents to Go."

p.s. for finding best prices, try www.froogle.com (http://www.froogle.com) &/or www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com)... but if you choose a Palm system, sometimes they'll have perks if you order direct from them.

The Palm OS is much more reliable and stable than the Pocket PC OS. I would avoid the latter. Many manufacturers use the Palm OS (not just Palm). Personally I have a Tungsten C which I love....it will take a memory chip so I can store entire books on it if I want. It is Wi-Fi compatable too.
