View Full Version : monitor
My Nokia monitor, which served me long and well, has died <sniff>. Thus, I need a new monitor (I'm using an old spare for now.) Having not shopped for one in years, I don't know what's good. Finances likely dictate another CRT, and the Samsung 753 has been mentioned to me. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Last year my old 17" started going fuzzy on me. I read reviews, posted on hardware forums and dicided to go with the NEC FP912SB (19"). It is an awesome monitor. Bright, sharp and clear. I paid $250 for it at the time, but they sell for ~$300. I just got lucky, Dell had them them and they had a sale with free shipping.

Alan,
Since you are probably going to purchase a CRT then I would try to find a good deal on a 17" flat panel monitor. I do not like mentioning the dreaded "F" word, but I have seen some 17" flat panel CRT monitors for less than a 100 dollars at Fry's electronics.

I don't have space for a 19 inch CRT. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif

I think you will be OK with a 17" flat panel CRT.

Other than being a little wider, my 19" is the same depth as my old 17" monitor.
