If you're in to making New Year's resolutions, I thought we could all share here!
If not, hopefully hearing others will help everyone think up or share some.

I'm going to make none for the upcoming year! I made a list of like five for 2009 and I failed on every single one. I ended up feeling depressed halfway through the year because of my fail. So no more resolutions.

I am going to try to show up on time, especially for medical appointments.
Reorganize my "stuff" papers, books, clothing, medical supplies, etc.
Cut down on aimless Web surfing and brainless sitcoms.
Get out of the house more often. But not today. It's 16 degrees F with a 40 mph wind.
Kenzee, have you returned to school yet?
Please check in with us when your first SCI anniversary rolls around. We'll help you get through it.

Some of my new year's reso.s, no particular order:
1) WALK
2) Start cooking
3) Come up with some efficient exercise plan
4) Read at LEAST a book at LEAST every month
5) Work on getting a wheelchair modified van
6) Help get my bathroom door widened so I can TAKE A REAL SHOWER
7) Get outrageously active for sci funds/awareness
8) start an active youtube account :D
yeah, lots of stuff to get done this year.
Uncle Peter, I got accepted to one of the state universities here in Cali and I'm going to attend in the fall of 2010. I can't wait, I miss learning...

I never keep them so I'm not making any this year. I always end up disappointed in myself too, so better to take one day at a time. If I had one main goal, it would be to go veggie again though, but I fear it ain't happening. I'll TRY though....too hard surrounded my carnivorous men!
Lynnifer, I prefer the wheat pasta better anyways. Good luck w/ your weight loss & such. Esp. swimming, I know you've been looking forward to that!
Best wishes everyone:)

I am going to stop drinking all the soda especially all the coca cola I am drinking. The water in this part of town tasts bad so water is double price to buy then cola. The rest of the town and the rest of the country is drinking the tap water so it makes me feel bad to buy expencive water.
And I am going to start PT again. I have been lazy because of the UTI for six month and I have lost a lot of muscles and not been standing either for obvious reasons ;)
I am going to contiue smoking and continue test the lung capasity. If it is going down, I have 130% and can drag in 4 litre, I am stopping.
This is not the only place I have written those things, I have written it in my Norwegian forum too and it is a very small one so everybody is going to remind me if I am doing/not doing those things :D

The Coca-Cola could cause UTIs, Bente, because of the sugar and carbonation.
I hope your sores are all healed, Lynnifer.
Kenzeezy, do you plan to drive the van? Another way for you to meet SCI people is wheelchair sports, even as a spectator. I also recommend subscribing to SCI Life, Paraplegia News, Sports N Spokes and New Mobility.

Okay then, I will make an easy one. Don't start making a blu ray DVD collection. I got a whole bunch for Christmas. Ever since then I was looking for bargains to have lots! Many centuries ago I was buying DVDs left and right not to mention CDs as well.

After a truly shitty year, up every day for any amount of time not counting the morning routine. Drag out the standing table and as soon as that sitting is at 2 to 3 hours easily start standing again. This should make cruising a lot less exhausting way to have fun!
Been doing all my supplements for several months now and have a bit more energy but next doctor's appointment time for a few more tests besides basic anemia. And started already with the real redecorating with an appointment on Monday with the decorator/reupholster person.
And what Peter said about paperwork and junk...hopefully.

I have that but it is closing at once, they said three months for using the filter, it lastet three days. So I have to buy. And it is 3 dollars for 1500cc water. Even the water tap in the shower is closing all the time so I had to take out the usual iron filter that is inside. And the coke is 1 dollar for 1500 cc.
I know the coke is bad for my UTI so that's why I want to stop drinking it. I am not terrible fond of sweets and chocolate so that is not a problem.
The sigarettes is impossible to stop, I enjoy every one. I can use snus instead, but that is bad for the gum and the teeth if I do it too much.
The PT is easy, only the snow has to leave so I can get out. It is not far from my house and it is free for people with SCI. But I don't go as long as I have fever so I have to wait until the UTI is gone, whenever that is going to be. My new doctor is working on it, the urologist at the hospital can't do anything, I have to go to a neurourogist and I don't know how many month or years waiting list he has. It is only two in all Norway, one in Oslo and one in Bergen

If I remember correctly (and perhaps I am mistaken) I don't think it's a regular neurologist she needs, I think it was some sort of neuro-urologist or something unusual.
As it isn't a huge country, and that sounds like a pretty rare specialty, I could believe that.

Quad, I love how you think, but I don't think it's in the cards. This woman is a truly beautiful soul-inside and out. She skis, has her own sailboat and is a pilot.
She also has three children...and ten grandchildren...and one great grandchild. She will be 76 in Feb. (I met her on the Patients Like Me ALS site...her husband had the beast , and she was kind enough to give Mike his Dyna Vox.)
I still have hope though.

LMBO! Discriminatory? Not me. Like fine wine, and good cheese, a mature woman always has a special allure.
This reminds me of the story about the 80 year old man who came home and told his wife he wanted a divorce because he had fallen in love with a 20 year old woman. His wife looked him in the eye, and said that is fine...I am going to go out and find myself a 20 year old lover and let me tell you this...20 will go into 80 a lot more than 80 will go into 20!

Leif, why do you think it is a lie? She's waiting for a neuro-urologist I believe.
I think she did make a typo, she just said urologist. But from her previous posts, I believe it is actually a neuro-urologist.
Out of curiousity, I tried to find one in the Chicago area. I think I could come up with a couple, with quite a struggle. When I searched under our fairly large insurance plan, there were none listed.
The estimate I find for the population of Norway is 4,850,440
The estimate I find for the population of Illinois is 12,901,563
Since Illinois is around 2.5 the size of Norway, and we don't seem to have very many, I would not be surprised if there were only a couple neuro-urologists in Norway - it seems to be a fairly small sub-specialty.
Do you know of more of them? I'm sure if you do, that would be very useful information for her.
TAM63. A lie was bad wording by me for sure, but as for neurourologist’s I believe there are at lest five neurologist’s specialised as neurourologist’s just at the National Hospital in Oslo. The aim by the national neurologist organizations is also to have at least one neurourologist’s at each central hospital around Norway. So there are more such doc’s than just in Bergen and Oslo, I know. Illinois has to crew up :)

Thanks Leif. That is interesting - if there are more that's good news I'd say - not sure why Woman from Europe wasn't aware of them, but I guess she is now. Hopefully she'll be able to see someone before too long.
Illinois probably has more as well then, they just sure weren't simple to find. Maybe I just have to find doctors that are double-boarded (neurology and urology) rather than just try to search for the sub-specialty itself.
lol this forum makes me feel like a "searching failure" at times :)

Can I get a list from a professional organization there for urologists that are also cross trained or specialize in neuro-urology? Johns Hopkins only has one and they have the huge Brady Urological Unit donated way back by Diamond Jim Brady.

That's is weird compared to here Leif. Most medical schools here give dual neurology and psychiatry diplomas not urology. Mainly I assume because urology often involves surgery or invasive testing while neurology has neurosurgeons do their cutting. And they find there are more mental illnesses that physically effect the brain.
