What kinds and styles work for anyone sci'd (quads ->high paras) out there - honestly, I'm an alien closely related to grover - rail thin with a quad gut (ok, maybe not so "rail" after the kid...)
I want some sort of corset to hold the gut in, not let it slip up or down, & make the boobs look good, too... and naturally, it can't damage my skin (ie. no back closures).

Ladies, kinksters, any ideas?

i know my friend who was a quad purchased hers from a vendor in one of those booths in the middle of a mall. you could also try Fredrick's of Hollywood, see http://www.fredericks.com/corsets/corsets,default,sc.html . they have all kinds of corsets and shapewear. good luck!

Alissa, Idk of a corset per se, but have found something that doesn't slip to hold everything in & give some shape. I will pm the details as the label has faded away & I'm trying to find what I have on the net now. These have wires & do to leaning I had to get one taken out because of pressure. As far as boobs..Victoria Secret now has the uplifting two sizes bigger bra which is on my Christmas list. Us quads know those babies need the help after sci is done with 'em.;) lol. I haven't tried one but my friend(ab) did, she very, very visably went from a C to a DD! If you are truley looking for a corset I would say to find Tiffany..is it Theopania on here? Hopefully someone else knows her website addy or email as I don't see her here often, but she does have a R&S forum over at Disaboom now..I know she can lead you in the right direction.

...still looking for the gut.
try something from www.spanx.com (http://www.spanx.com) - Sarah has a piece that she bought for use to smooth everything out under a bridesmaid dress, works well.

for dudes: www.equmen.com (http://www.equmen.com)

all this junk is $$$ though. www.barenecessities.com (http://www.barenecessities.com) has a good selection of most everything on the market.

VS Christmas catalog has something for everyone. I really love their lingerie lineup (not just bras and panties) this season. I'm thinking anyone could look good in the options available. Here is a link I think you may find helpful.
Have fun, I know I did!

I know there's at least one custom corset shop in San Francisco (I've been there) and probably many more. Let me know if you're in the bay area and I can find the name.

Though you could call any local specialty BDSM shop. They should know a local artist that could make you something custom to your needs.

Lingerie shops have corset styled garments, but you need a fitted steel boned corset. VS 'corsets' will not support you. There are many corset makers in SF

I really like the people at Three Muses here in Florida. They are super helpful and friendly spending time helping me pick out corsets and costumes that work with my body. They do have a web site www.threemusesclothing.com (http://www.threemusesclothing.com) and you can buy online. I hope they can help!

Luckily, I do live near sf, and play there as well. I've checked out a couple of places & have had custom offers. problem is they are soooooooo expensive :9. oh well, i'm more of a freak anyway, i'll just have to find my own style of dressing - or un, as the case may be...
thanks for all your advice.

cspine, perhaps we may have a private convo?

peace

Hi,
I wear a front-closing version of this kind of relatively inexpensive Flexees corset every day; they are very comfortable and give me a bit of an hourglass shape, too, even sitting down, and holds everything in the right places. To make them a bit stronger and able to hold their shape, I replace the more flexible metal stays in the front panels with two sturdier steel stays. These can be found through most sewing outlets and corsetry websites.

Unfortunately it looks like Maidenform might have recently discontinued the hook-and-eye front closure version of this, called "Instant Slimmer(R) Long Torso Waistnipper," which is so much easier to put on than I suspect a pull-on version like this one would be - I will have to start a campaign to bring them back! These fast became an essential part of my wardrobe, and trying to find a suitable replacement would be very difficult.

Anyone else have any experience with these? I first found them at Sears in the late '90s and wore them as an AB. I'm going to keep looking around for the front-closing version before I throw a fit to Maidenform...

Update: Here's an Amazon link that shows the version I buy, though the mannequin is wearing the hook-and-eye on the back

With the quad gut, you really need to get a corset that's both long enough for your body type and cut long in the center of the front.

If you have a bit of a belly and try wearing a corset with a straight edge at the bottom, the garment is likely to push the extra padding out of the bottom than it is to hold it in. (This is especially true if you like to tight-lace your boned corsets.) It's not an attractive look.

Also, it's not a good idea for anyone with a Baclofen pump to wear a tightly-laced boned corset. It can negatively affect the intrathecal catheter, especially if it's located in your mid-lower thoracic spine.

While it may be expensive to have a corset custom made, it's worth the investment. This is a garment you want and need to fit you like a second skin, and a custom made one will do that and last forever.

They do ride up a little and I do have to adjust them often, which is a pain, but it is worth it to me to have a little control over the shape of things.

They definitely take some getting used to wearing, and individual adjustments according to your taste and comfort might be necessary just like any other item of clothing or tool. They're tight, and should be, and even if you don't have feeling in your midsection (I don't), you might still have a "bound" kind of feeling that can take some getting used to.

I've just used this particular item as a base for creating something that I feel comfortable wearing and that helps with confidence and shaping as well as posture. There are so many more expensive ways to do these same things, but I hope to inspire more ladies to try and make things that are inexpensive and that fit - I'm trying to motivate myself to do it more often, too! Even if it ends up in the experiment pile, it might foster new ideas to make an even better thing next time.
