Am interested in input from anyone regarding what types of resources are available to spinal cord injured people on the Internet. Which of those are most valuable? What are some barriers to computer/Internet use among this population?

Hey Joe,

Can you give us a little more information about what you want to learn from us? eg, What type of resources did you mean in your first question?

Thank you Steven for your post. I am interested in understanding what Web sites (health-related or other) are popular, what Web site services are popular (e.g. forums, chat, bulletin boards, newsgroups, etc.), and in general, where do spinal cord injured people spend their time on the web? Obviously, this is a broad question... any thoughts at all would help. Next, regarding barriers to use - my research tells me that assistive technologies are advancing rapidly. Are these real to most people with SCI, i.e. are they available and usable? Can you comment on the MS Windows tools? Where is more work needed in this field?

I started a topic asking the question "How do you type?" which was meant for quads. In the replies you will find "assistive technologies" that allow people with disabilities to use MS Word, surf the net, talk in chat rooms, etc. I hope this helps. Good luck!
