Please disregard the video. Apparently the only way you can sneak in studio versions of music is to mismatch the video.

I descended a dusty gravel ridge
Beneath the Bixby Canyon Bridge
And soon I eventually arrived
At the place where your soul had died
Barefoot in the shallow creek
I grabbed some stones from underneath
Waiting for you to speak to me
And the silence, it became so very clear
That you had long ago disappeared
And I cursed myself for being surprised
That this didn't play like it did in my mind
All the way from San Francisco
As I chased the end of your road
'Cause I've still got miles to go
I want to know my fate if I keep up this way
It's hard to want to stay away
And everyone you meet all seem to be asleep
You wonder if you're missing your dream
Can't see your dream, can't see your dream
Just can't see your dream
Dream, dream, dream, dream
Dream, dream, dream, dream
Then it started getting dark
And I trudged back to where the car was parked
No closer to any kind of truth
As I must assume was the case with you

Also this guy has been popping up.
8tfocaQTMec
Imprisoned inside this mind
Hiding behind the empty smiles
So simple
(relinquish)
Isn't much made
Crawling back into the dark
Running, always running
Into the distance
Stop me
Before i bleed again
The echoes of my voice
Follow me down
The shadows i cast
Follow me down
Deeper I'm falling
Into the arms of sorrow
Blindly descending
Into the arms of sorrow
There must be serenity
The echoes of my voice
Follow me down
The shadows i cast
Follow me down
Deeper I'm falling
Into the arms of sorrow
Blindly descending
Into the arms of sorrow
The demons of my own design
This horror must not remain
Deeper I'm falling
Into the arms of sorrow
Blindly descending
Into the arms of sorrow
There must be serenity
There must be deliverance
DeeperI'm falling
Blindly decending
Deeper im falling

4 Non Blondes -- "What's Up"
25 years of my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this
Brotherhood of man
For whatever that means
So I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
To get it all out what's in my head
Then I start feeling a little peculiar
So I wake in the morning and I step
Outside I take deep breath
I get real high
Then I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on
And I say hey...
And I say hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
I said hey what's goin' on
And I try, oh my God do I try
I try all the time
In this institution
And I pray, oh my God do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution
So I cry sometimes when I'm lying in my bed
To get it all out what's in my head
Then I start feeling a little peculiar
So I wake in the morning and I step outside
I take a deep breath and I get real high
Then I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on
And I say hey...
And I say hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
I said hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
And I say hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
I said hey what's goin' on
25 years of my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination

I have played this Kings of Leon - Use Somebody a million times in the last 6mths, speaks to me always followed by Be Somebody to motivate me.
vUFDOlO6B2w
i've been roaming around
always looking down at all i see
painted faces fill the places i can't reach
you know that i could use somebody
you know that i could use somebody
someone like you
and all you know
and how you speak
countless lovers undercover of the street
you know that i could use somebody
you know that i could use somebody
someone like you
off in the night,
while you live it up, i'm off to sleep
waging war to shake the poet and the beat(love that the most)
i hope it's gonna make you notice
i hope it's gonna make you notice
someone like me
someone like me
someone like me
go and let it out
someone like you
somebody
someone like you
somebody
someone like you
somebody
i've been roaming around
always looking down at all i see

Lior - Corner of a Endless Road
Well I'm living in a shoebox
On the corner of an endless road
And this city is as lonely as traffic... http://www.jplay.com.au/JSite/Images/trans_pix.gif Main Lyrics ...so I will fight
To make you my ground http://www.jplay.com.au/JSite/Images/trans_pix.gif (can't find them all)

E5VR5Snqeic
I play this song to motivated me when i'm slacking off
Hilltop Hoods - Chase that Feeling
She's young, lithe and homely, wise by no means,
Known one guy she's for his eyes and only,
He's a lying phony, leaves crying, lonely,
Separates the pain by staying high and though she,
Might just O.D. high price to go free,
This aint living, listen it's dying slowly,
It's got a hold on me, she can chase that feeling,
It's got a hold on me, don't chase that feeling
Sometimes I feel we strive for a life of apathy,
Callous deeds, other mindless acts of greed,
Aint jack for free, I think they'd try a tax to breathe,
It's like we fight to remind us that we bleed,
I take flight in the night from lack of sleep,
Cause peace of minds the only time that we're free,
It's got a hold on me, and I'm a chase that feeling,
It's got a hold on me, we all chase that feeling
It's like they try to build you up to watch it all collapse,
You try climb out the pit, they'll try claw you back,
Like back in the factory packing the shelves,
It was hell cos the foreman was always harassing me,
Like How's your little old music thing going?
Now I'm like How's your bitter old loser shit going?
And I'm right, it's got a hold on me, and I'm a chase that feeling,
It's got a hold on me, I'm a chase that feeling like I
And I'm a chase that feeling,
Take that pain and replace that feeling,
And I'm a take that healing then,
Stand so tall they'll have to raise that ceiling man
From a young age I was making my mark, chasing my start,
Forever aint enough when your state of the art,
Fuck the haters that had said I'd never make it this far,
It's the pavers that I'd tread to dedicate to my craft,
I've tailored every thread that bare the shape of my heart,
Treating every breathe as my first and day as my last,
It's got a hold on me, I still chase that feeling,
It's got a hold on me, yeah I still chase that feeling
VERSE 5 - SUFFA
I ride the rails of a vinyl track,
Fall into a trance and there aint no climbing back,
Sit and lose myself in all the hidden loops,
They're like forbidden fruits, I'm like can I get a bite of that?
Gin and juice, I get loose and I write a track,
Shivers down my spine, feeling more like a spinal tap,
It's got a hold on me, and I'm a chase that feeling,
It's got a hold on me, I'm a chase that feeling like I
And I'm a chase that feeling,
Take that pain and replace that feeling,
And I'm a take that healing then,
Stand so tall they'll have to raise that ceiling man
At start of the summer,
I'm a come to life and have the heart of a hummingbird,
And I can hear the drummer,
She's so ugly but I'm so in love with her,
Wake up, roll out of bed, throw on some roll-on,
Roll up to the studio,
It's got a hold on me, and I'm a chase that feeling,
Chase that feeling

You got it right, I added the tags in your post so your video would show. You have to enclose the value in the youtube tags like I posted above, using square brackets around the youtube tags, not around the string value. The string value is between the youtube tags. Try it again.
PS The last computer class I took involved punching holes in cards.

Written by Christine McVie.
If you wake up and don't want to smile,
If it takes just a little while,
Open your eyes and look at the day,
You'll see things in a different way.
Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.
Why not think about times to come,
And not about the things that you've done,
If your life was bad to you,
Just think what tomorrow will do.
Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.
All I want is to see you smile,
If it takes just a little while,
I know you don't believe that it's true,
I never meant any harm to you.
Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.
Don't you look back,
Don't you look back.

I watched you walk away
Helpless, with nothing to say
I strain my eyes
Hoping to see you again
This is my curse (the longing)
This is my curse (time)
This is my curse (the yearning)
This is my curse
There is love burning to find you
Will you wait for me?
Will you be there?
Your silence haunts me
But I still hunger for you
This is my curse (the wanting)
This is my curse (time)
This is my curse (the needing)
This is my curse
There is love burning to find you
Will you wait for me?
And still I want
And still I ache
But still I wait
To see you again
Dying, inside, these walls (2x)
And I see your face in these tears? In these tears
And I see your face...
There is love (8x)

You make my knees wanna kneel down say please

You make my pants wanna get up and dance

You make my knees wanna kneel down say please
Honey won't you kiss me again
I was a lost and lonely man
Now I get through life the best I can
'Til the day I laid my eye on you
That day I decided what I had to do
You make my pants wanna get up and dance
You make my face wanna grin
You make my knees wanna kneel down say please
Honey won't you kiss me again
Start the music strike up the band
I never done the boogie but I believe I can
Never met a girl half as sweet as you
Nobody's ever moved half the moves you do
You make my pants wanna get up and dance
You make my face wanna grin
You make my knees wanna kneel down say please

Music that appeals to me range from the dreadfully sad to upbeat trance. Depends on my mood. Crying to a sad ballad and dancing to an anthem are both so emotionally fulfilling.
A song and music video I've cried to several times is Oh Father by Madonna:

I couldn't pick only one.... so here they are
Anyway, Martina McBride
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uLtyzRgmyI
You can spend your whole life building
Something from nothin'
One storm can come and blow it all away
Build it anyway
You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway
God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway
This world's gone crazy
It's hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway
You can love someone with all your heart
For all the right reasons
In a moment they can choose to walk away
Love 'em anyway
God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
Yea - I do it anyway
You can pour your soul out singing
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway
Yea, sing it anyway
Yeah, yeah!
I sing
I dream
I love anyway

Concrete Angel, Martina McBride
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtNYA4pAGjI&feature=channel
She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holdin' back
Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace
The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel
Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel
A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel

i'm learning a lot of new music and revisiting fave old tunes as well.

madonna, mcbride, satchmo, all can be perfect prescriptions at the right moment or mood.
maybe we should rename the thread 'our musical meds'? i read recently that there's a dr. who writes individual music prescriptions for mood elevation, but that seemed odd to me, music is so subjective, it seems only the individual could choose the music that speaks to him or her.... what do y'all think?
here's my contribution for today...i enjoy books and many of the cartoons by john callahan and glad he's now writing and recording his songs...as a quad hands musician myself, i especially enjoy seeing how he works around and within limits to accompany himself on guitar--way to go, john!

Right on the money there, RDF! Great songs.
Looking forward to when Mark gets home and we can do our semi-annual "Rocky Horror Picture Show." Jackson thinks that since he is 10 now , he is old enough to watch it. I am staying out of that fight.
I'm only 8 months older than you Brian, so we probably remember a lot of the same music.
Rocky Picture Horror Show - I haven't seen it in years. Great movie, I'll have to get it. Right on the money there, RDF! Great songs.

Random memories of a summer long past triggered me to seek out this song today. We must have listened to it hundreds of times over the course of that July and August.

Sometimes it's a Bitch - Stevie Nicks
Well I've run through rainbows and castles of candy
I cried a river of tears from the pain
I try to dance with what life has to hand me
My partner's been pleasure... my partner's been pain
There are days when I swear I could fly like an eagle
And dark desperate hours that nobody sees
My arms stretched triumphant on top of the mountain
My head in my hands... down on my knees
Sometimes it's a bitch... sometimes it's a breeze
Sometimes love's blind... and sometimes it sees
Sometimes it's roses... and, sometimes it's weeds
Sometimes it's a bitch... sometimes it's a breeze
I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I've laid down with love and I woke up with lies
What's it all worth only the heart can measure
It's not what's in the mirror... but what's left inside
Sometimes it's a bitch... sometimes it's a breeze
Sometimes love's blind... and sometimes it sees
Sometimes it's roses... and, sometimes it's weeds
Sometimes it's a bitch... sometimes it's a breeze
You gotta take it as it comes
Sometimes it don't come easy
I've run through rainbows and castles of candy
And I've cried a river of tears from the pain
I tried to dance with what life had to hand me
And if I could... I'd do it all over again
Sometimes it's a bitch... sometimes it's a breeze
Sometimes love's blind... and sometimes it sees
Sometimes it's roses... and, sometimes it's weeds
Sometimes it's a bitch... sometimes it's a breeze
Sometimes the picture just ain't what it seems
You get what you want... but it's not what you need
Sometimes it's a bitch... sometimes... it's a breeze
Well it's a breeze... it's a breeze... it's a breeze...Well I've run through rainbows and castles of candy

How old do you think I am? he said.
I said, well, I didn't know.
He said, I turned 65 about 11 months ago.
I was sittin in miami pourin blended whiskey down
When this old gray black gentleman was cleanin up the lounge
There wasn't anyone around cept this old man and me
The guy who ran the bar was watchin ironsides on tv
Uninvited, he sat down and opened up his mind
On old dogs and children and watermelon wine
Ever had a drink of watermelon wine? he asked
He told me all about it, though I didn't answer back
Aint but three things in this world that's worth a solitary dime,
But old dogs and children and watermelon wine.
He said, women think about they-selves, when menfolk aint around.
And friends are hard to find when they discover that you're down.
He said, I tried it all when I was young and in my natural prime;
Now it's old dogs and children and watermelon wine.
Old dogs care about you even when you make mistakes;
God bless little children while they're still too young to hate.
When he moved away I found my pen and copied down that line
Bout old dogs and children and watermelon wine.
I had to catch a plane up to atlanta that next day
As I left for my room I saw him pickin up my change
That night I dreamed in peaceful sleep of shady summertime
Of old dogs and children and watermelon wine.

...i'm just stoked that i finally figured out how t get the video to post. ahhh the silly lil things that can make me happy sometimes....Those are the things that we live for, the things that keep us going. The little pleasures, no matter how small, have much more power than do the burdens, no matter how big.

Yeah, the experiences of our lives along with the passing of years can change the meaning of songs. Some mean the same to me even now, though.
