First time that i have heard of hackers being good for something.

Hong Kong hackers put halt to Hell on Earth's web plans
Sunday, October 5th
Tourtelot says he doesn't know if the person committed suicide or not at their show.

There's no official word from a St. Petersburg shock-rock band on their planned concert where a member of the audience was planning to commit suicide.

A flood of data generating from a source somewhere in Hong Kong attacked Hell on Earth's web site. The concert went on as planned Saturday night, but it couldn't been seen via the Internet.

After the show, Hell on Earth's leader Billy Tourtelot said he did not know whether the suicide occurred or not. Emergency dispatchers in St. Petersburg and Pinellas County say they did not receive any calls reporting suicide during the hours the concert allegedly took place.

Last week a circuit court judge banned the live suicide event, but the band promised to hold it on-line from an undisclosed location in St. Petersburg.

The owners of the original venue cancelled the show.
The St. Petersburg City Council met in emergency session last Monday in order to pass an ordinance that makes it illegal to conduct a suicide for commercial or entertainment purposes, or to host, promote or sell tickets for such an event.

Violating the city ordinance could result in a $500 fine and a six-month jail sentence. Assisting a suicide is a second-degree felony, punishable by as many as 15 years in prison.

Hong Kong isn't very big on computer security. Most hackers I know live on networks in Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, and other Asian countries. If the denial of service attack came from Hong Kong, there is a very good chance that it was administered from the states.
