I saw this in the WSJ,
You might want to check out http://skype.net/home.html a new Web site with software that lets users make voice calls over the internet - free. PC to PC.
System Requirements
In order to use Skype software, your computer
must meet the following minimum system requirements:

PC running Windows 2000 or XP
400 Mhz processor
128 Mb RAM
10 MB free disk space on your hard drive
Sound Card, speakers and microphone
Dial-up Internet connection (minimum 33.6 Kbps modem)

Perhaps a good tool to talk to the folks in Beijing.

Dennis, thanks for the information. You may want to look at more of what Kazaa is doing with voice over IP.

From what I have seen and heard, it does work very well. Once installed, the software looks a lot like KaZaA or an instant messaging program. You add buddies, assign contact information to them, and call them at will.

Skype claims to work through all firewalls and encrypts conversations to ensure your privacy. It also promises to give you better sound quality than a phone ever would. But keep in mind that Skype's still in beta. It will fix bugs release updates regularly. I also use Yahoo Instant Messenger and it has a very good WebCam and voice option for talking over the net.
