One of my old caregivers lived in a town where someone had their house redone On Extreme Home Makeover. Nobody took into consideration how much he would raise the property taxes and utilities and they eventually lost the house. It almost sounds like more of a curse than a tree or a gift

One family also promptly blew all the money that was supposed to cover taxes, put a mortgage on their house and then lost it to foreclosure.

When they came to Lawton OK last year they set up a trust to handle the donations, pay property taxes and upkeep etc. Both the Veteran dad and son were sci and they built them a great Prairie Style house.

The producers are learning as they go.
