Many hackers are going to try to get into machines around the world to launch a wide-scale attack. Make sure your system isn't compromised and used in any attacks.
Microsoft released several patches for the vulnerability, but I don't have much faith in them. Here's what I recommend.
If you're not running ZoneAlarm, turn on XP's built-in Internet Connection Firewall.
1. Open Network Places.
2. Right-click your connection and choose
Properties.
3. Go to the Advanced tab and check the
Internet Connection Firewall.
4. Click OK.
Install DCOMbobulator. When you launch the
program, go to the decombobulator tab,
click Disable, and OK.
