I want to network my powerbook (G4, OsX, 10.2.6) with my windows machines (WinXP Pro sp1) so I can transfer files across the network without the use of software such as Thursby's Dave (http://thursby.com/products/dave.html).

All machines are networked allready, in fact I'm typing this on my powerbook connected through an airport to the windows machines, one of which contains the 'shared' internet connection.

I've tried the "connect to server" applet in my finder, and I can only connect to my girl's laptop which is also connected to this airport. (she's also running XP)

I've tried plugging the 'book directly into the LAN, and it then can't 'see' any of the other machines.

Any hints?

hey... I use a similar setup. I have a Powerbook that's networked wirelessly to an XP laptop & a 2000 desktop.

don't buy Dave; look into Samba (opensource, free)... the software should be on your PB already, but if not, it's easy to get running.

check out http://www.samba.org/

also, http://joelshoemaker.com/ has some great Mac/PC networking info.
