Does anyone have this service? Its only $14.95 and it claims to be five times faster than normal dial-up.

Their comercial is a little misleading. They way it looks on the commercial is they are advertising broadband, but it's not. Here is what it says on their website"
"Before the text and graphics that make up Web pages get sent to you over your phone line, NetZero HiSpeed compresses them using a proprietary technology. Less data is sent so the download of pages and your surfing experience are that much faster! In addition, NetZero HiSpeed stores elements of the Web sites you visit frequently so you do not have to re-download them every time you visit these sites."
I highly doubt that it will increase your speed by 5x. Modems already use built in hardware compression to compress the data being transmitted, and images on web pages are already compressed.

Learn from the mistakes of others, you won't live long enough to make all of them yourself.
And browsers already cache everything as it is, anyway.
BTW, does NetZero still give away ten hours per month of their normal service? It's a great backup everyone should have. I know some people who have no ISP at home. This would at least allow them to check their email.
