bigbob, neat sites. I just tested the speed of my connection... 2.7 Mbytes/second (peak) and it took 3.1 seconds to download a 1 Mb file (continuous). Not too shabby considering that it is through an old Apple Airport connected to a cable network. Wise.

Wise, I cannot take credit for the connection speed link. It was posted by melliska for PN.But while I am posting if anyone goes to www.driverguide.com (http://www.driverguide.com) the login is: drivers and the password is all.

I got some excellent programs here and they come without adware. CDBurnerXPpro worked better than Nero.

I cant believe nobody has mentioned openoffice! Just like Microsoft Office, except it is totally free (has all the program equivalents of powerpoint, word, excel etc). It is also compatible with Microsoft Office aswell, which is really useful when sending documents to other people who dont have OpenOffice.

http://www.openoffice.org/
I use it a lot and find it friendly. For example I can use its writer and email it and it turns to "word"
