Instant Technologies Expands Capability of Instant Agent Framework 2.0 to Support Microsoft and Oracle Applications
Business Editors/High-Tech Writers
BEVERLY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 9, 2003--Instant Technologies--
-- Implementing Microsoft's Active Data Objects ("ADO"), Instant
Agent Framework V2.0 brings the simplicity of instant
messaging to database queries, reducing IT burden and speeding
data access for end users of IBM, Microsoft and Oracle
applications.
Instant Technologies today announced the availability of Instant Agent Framework 2.0(TM) ("IAF"), expanding the product's support to include products such as Microsoft SQL, Oracle 9i and IBM's DB2, while significantly enhancing support for Lotus Domino.
IAF 2.0 allows users of IBM Lotus Instant Messaging(TM) ("Lotus Sametime(TM)") to create Instant Agent "bots" that perform database queries from their instant messaging environment.
Using IAF, IT departments can quickly and easily create queries that live in IBM Instant Messaging(TM) users' "buddy lists". Users click the Instant Agent as they would any other buddy to access the information. Ideal for commonplace tasks like address or telephone look-up, IAF allows IT departments to create as many different agents as they need to meet the unique requirements of their business, all without Java or any other programming expertise.
In its initial release, IAF was an invaluable tool for IT professionals who support the day-to-day needs of organizations. "We were spending a majority of our time helping users and not working on projects. The time it took to research support documentation was too much" said Adam Abell of the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, the largest brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation hospital in the US, "But with IAF, we can easily and instantly access the data we're looking for. That's freed our team to concentrate on more important tasks."
Instant Agent Framework 2.0 also adds a number of enhancements for IBM Domino users, such as Lotus @Function support, full-text search, and enhanced usage logging.
IAF is available for purchase through select IBM and Microsoft Business Partners and from Instant Technologies' web site. For more information and to download a trial version, go to http://www.instant-tech.com.
