kensington slimblade is a new one, the ball is big but the buttons are almost non existent.
however i think it is suppose to work by rotating the ball and ball direction than hitting buttons.

I used this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104108) one. I had the mouse buttons reversed so it's easy for me to click. I've been using it for years.

Don't have to lift my hand over the buttons to reach the ball, like on the Kensington, though I do like the bigger ball on the latter.

I have been using the Kensington featured for years in combination with a touch pad. I used the center ring to scroll and a touch pad to click.
Microsoft made a great rollerball but discontinued it. It was my all time favorite.
I have been using the Kensington Expert Mouse as well for years, both at the office and at home. It is great...especially the newer optical version.

Like this, barely have to move my hand. Reverse buttons and turn on ClickLock to highlight or drag without holding down the mouse button.

As noted in other threads, I practically destroyed my shoulder using a trackball. I then switched to the Jouse (http://www.jouse.com/).
It may not be for you, just spreading the word.

don't get the kensington slim blade trackball,
the software is horrible, it is basically a 2 button trackball.
the design is pretty good big billaerd ball, horrible proprietary software/
the best one for me is the microsoft trackball explorer, they don't make it and the people that have it want double what it cost new.
there are simple index finger mice, wireless, i wonder if they could be modified for special uses.
i found them cheap on dealextreme, direct from china, $5 or $10,
maybe stick a cigar container in the finger slot.
no one seems to b e coming out with new trackballs, except kensington, which was/is a fail

I like the logitech track ball that has the ball in between two buttons and also has small back and forward buttons embedded with larger buttons so when on web you can easily click back and forth w/o moving pointer. I forget the model , but it's basic gray with big red ball, I also have an older version that has the ball under the thumb so you just rest your palm on it.
I like the first model best (forget the actual model name).

Yes, I remember you mentioning that now, Van Quad, and meant to look further into it. Because, like you, the trackball is killing my arm. Thanks for the reminder. Can you tell me, what do you do with the microphone, or do you use the Jouse exclusively?
Anybody know what Orangejello uses to run her computer?

?
I wasn't nagging,:) I just want to expose this technology to everyone I can.
The microphone I zap-strap to the arm of the Jouse. It stays there. I've got a speakerphone microphone zap-strapped to the Jouse as well. I'll have a photograph to post shortly.

That thing has me thinking about how it would free up my quad paws to push buttons well enough to play games. It is probably best not to go down that road though. I would probably play too many hours too much hunched over and get the equivalent of carpal tunnel in my neck.

Quadvet: I have been using the MousePad (http://www.mouseboard.net/contact.htm) with my Kensington Expert Mouse and it does help alleviate some of the shoulder pain. I also have the phone number for someone that sells a slightly different mousepad that straps around your legs with velcro. Both products are around $20.
I think OJ controls the computer through voice recognition.

Just thought I'd chime in with my setup.
I use a Kensington Expert Mouse. Trying to use 2 hands on it is impossible for me so I had it modified with button extensions. Now I can keep my arms in a normal position while increasing functionality.
There are 4 buttons on the trackball so two of them I activate with easy to press switches and the other two with a single sip/puff switch.
Works quite well for me. I play alot of online action games with this setup and I doubt many can tell I'm a c4 complete quad.

Ditto, I love this trackball. The buttons are at a slant so they are easier to press without moving my hand off the ball. I rotate my hand to the right for the context button and left click with my thumb or my left hand. For me, the simpler the better.....now, I hope they don't stop making it!

boy, I would love to see a picture of your setup. I've got to find a faster and easier on my shoulder and wrist mouse set up. I currently use the keyboard numeric pad as the mouse. Do you think jouse would work spring-loaded articulated microphone arm or does it need a really fixed arm?

Has anyone tried this?

Kensington Expert Mouse on top of a MousePad. I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking for dictating. The MousePad (http://comfymousepad.com/html/shop.html) helps to reduce my shoulder pain. I can no longer use the keyboard because of carpal tunnel syndrome (too much typing).
