Hi Everyone
I want to ask a question regarding Voice Reconition Software
I am a Quad and have limited hand use so I've been trying out IBM Via Voice and so far it is just blaaaa Honestly . So much for Woodrow :o
I always like IBM products Just My opinion Actually IBM's Voice recognition concept is kool but the basis of its nature for Disabled folk is Not up to par . Being I sometimes may slur a word theres sensitivity levels etc ... It is not very user friendly IMOP
What Style of Voice Recognition software do so many of you use and prefer ?
Let's help eachother out here
I plan on Tweaking my software in the future I got ideas and it will be more user friendly . I like programming when I am in the mood for it .
Also I just purchased Dragon Speaks 10 havent recieved it yet but will give that a try . My main objective is to find something that works decent for any person .
My style of life is always willing to give anything a try and fair chance that's why I try out lots of software etc...
Thank you
Sincerely;
Gypsylady

Dragon NaturallySpeaking works incredible for me. I'm using it right now and use it all the time. I don't use it to navigate unless my mouse isn't working (like right now), especially considering I use Firefox and I only have version 9.5, but it's mostly 95% accurate as long as you speak clear and have a good headset. Other than that, I don't think there is anything else out there that's worth a damn.,

Dragon NaturallySpeaking is definitely the way to go if you want reliable voice recognition. I'm using version 10.01 on 64-bit Vista and it's absolutely incredible.this is a brand-new computer and dragon is working flawlessly from the word go. What I like about dragon is you can create your own commands. So you can insert passwords, e-mail addresses, just about anything just by saying a couple of words.
If Dragon NaturallySpeaking and my Kensington trackball were taken away from me, I would probably throw my computers away.
Gypsylady: I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10.1 Professional. IBM ViaVoice has not seen any development work in three or four years. This product has probably been abandoned by the manufacturer. I also use MacSpeech Dictate for voice recognition on my Mac. I can upgrade to MacSpeech Dictate 1.5 (for $50) but right now the cons seem to outweigh the pros. I think I will wait for MacSpeech Dictate 2.0. I am impressed with the way Vista's SR works with the OS. It can do your basic speech to text but it will require more training if you need to rely on voice rec. Vista's SR, from my experience, is not demanding on system resources. You definitely want to have a minimum of 2 GB of RAM. Vista's SR works very well with Internet Explorer 7.
In the final analysis, Dragon NaturallySpeaking does the best job for speech recognition.
Has anybody tried the speech recognition that is built into Vista? I haven't spent a long time using it but the time I did spend having a play I was extremely impressed. It made hardly any mistakes when I tried it.. Certainly worth a look out if you cannot afford Dragon NaturallySpeaking

I too have just switched to a new Vista box with DragonDictate 10. Didn't bother to import my voice files from the old version 7 because the recognition had gotten worse and worse daily. I'd also programmed many commands to paste HTML tags. I also had many Oracle commands memorized. It's wonderful to have the speed of DragonDictate back.

PN I agree I think IBM is kind of out of the ballpark here when it comes to some of their software lmao truthfully they got good motherboards and computer parts but their ideas for Voice Recognition is not up to Par
Like I said earlier
Their Voice Recognition Program IBM Version woodrow is Annoying He has some european accent and the Whole program is a pain in the ass to work with IMOP Ok like the punctuation and reading these stupid stories Geez . BTW I read the Wizard of Oz for like 100 times and still the platform stinks Rofl ...Just not my thing . Frustrating So I bought Sensehiser computer / mic setup for my laptop and Woodrow still had problems so my headset sits on my couch and I am looking getting my old programming ideas going on and maybe modify the IBM issue in the future ..... I like tweaking but lots of typing on my part and I am pecking here away with only 2 fingers
Maybe i'll change woodrows Name to Gnmutfeld ....
You think IBM of all companies would have a great upper hand on their Voice Recognition Stuff ???
