C-DUB SCHOLARSHIP TO CLEMAN: Senior tailback Braxton Cleman was awarded the first Curtis Williams Endowed Scholarship, the school announced yesterday.

"(Cleman) is what we look for when we look for student-athletes," Neuheisel said. "He truly has made the most of his college experience both on and off the field."

The scholarship, which honors Williams, who died in May of complications from a spinal cord injury he suffered while playing for the Huskies, will use a portion of the approximately $400,000 given to the Curtis Williams Fund. That fund had been set up to help pay for Williams' medical expenses.

An undisclosed portion of that money will go to a trust fund set up for Williams' daughter, Kymberly, who also will receive a monthly child support stipend.

The scholarship was awarded to Cleman based on a recommendation from Neuheisel to athletic director Barbara Hedges.

"It's a touching thing for me," Cleman said. "I want to dedicate this whole year to him."

Hedges also said the school has yet to decide how it will honor Williams this season, other than no UW player will wear Williams' No. 25 jersey.
