t10 complete; 9 months post injury and getting ready to modify my house.

Do you recommend bifold or sliding closet doors?

Thanks.

The absolute best doors are pocket doors that retract into the walls completely and do not obstruct the opening to the closet in anyway at all. That only works, unfortunately, if you have enough wall space on either side of the closet for them to slide into. If I had to choose between regular sliding or bi-fold I would always go with the bi-fold as it is possible to open both halves and still have access to the entire closet as long as you come at it straight ahead.

bi-fold so you can access the whole closet & not just half.

Being a T10 its more of just your personal preference you would be able to do both. Just have the rod down lower so u can reach stuff.

Bi fold as our sliding doors were always coming off the track...made it dangerous for us to access our closet!

Pocket doors are the best, but you have to have the wall space for them to "disappear" into. Bi-fold are next best, but maybe put in two sets with a supporting post between. I have a long closet, but only one set of bi-folds, so a lot of my stuff is "behind the wall" and hard to reach.

There's no threshold to step on or over. The door hangs from the top. This is a walk in closet (before all the shelves and stuff were put in), but it would work for a smaller closet, too.

Nice system, but the limitation is that access to the closet is limited by the length of the headrail in relation to the width of the door. Bifolds allow for a wider opening without requiring room to either side of the closet opening. This would be very good when there was sufficient room to slide the door past the closet opening. Not as clean as a pocket door, but a lot less work, especially as a retrofit.

Interior doors don't usually have thresholds, as they are used to as a weather seal. Bifolds and many pocket doors don't use bottom tracks. Some sliders use a bottom track, some don't.
