I want to wish all my fellow Veterans & everyone out there in this great country of ours a good Memorial Day. Lest we not forget the true meaning of this holiday. If it wasn't for Veterans like you & me & any man or women that is on active duty we wouldn't have the freedom in this country that we have today. Please remind everyone that you know. Thanks so much for serving or having served our great country & for your sacrifice. Any service man or women or veteran that you know or that you see in public please shake there hand & tell them thanks for serving or having served & for there sacrifice. I do it every chance I get. I'm proud to be an Air Force Veteran & having served this great country of ours.

I'm proud of you, and all veterans. Thank you all for your service to our country. I tell vets also that I appreciate their service when I meet one. My family is full of veterans from all the wars in the past 100 years, if not longer. A good Memorial Day to you all.

I am saying a prayer today for one of my best friends ever SSG Ryan Maseth, a Green Beret who joined the ARMY with me in 2001 and lost his life in Iraq January of 2008 and also my recruiter who sent my brother and I off, Seargeant Nyron, who also lost his life in Iraq. Maybe those of you out there can help me with that, it would be appreciated :)

I posted in the Life forum too, but this is the first Memorial Day I have had without my dad, a veteran of WWII (Army Air Corps, June, 1941-December 1945). Although he did not die in the service, I remembered him today while visiting the National Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Rosecrans. It was wonderful to see the American flags on every grave and so many people who were there to honor those who have passed before us and who served the cause of freedom.

I try to honor Veterans daily in my work, but especially today and at Veteran's Day in the fall I think about the many Veterans I have cared for over the years who are no longer with us.

I'm so mad at myself for having missed this thread - but none the less let me just say "Thank You" to all the vets here at CC (and everywhere) for keeping us safe and for making where we live - here in North America - a place that so many from all over the world long to call their home too ..... and very often die trying - spending their life savings to make that happen !
Those of us who were born here take it all for granted most of the time .... I try really hard not to ....

And I'm so thankful to have the US as our nearest neighbour .... I watch the concert from DC every year and so wish we Canadians would support and celebrate our vets the way you folks do .... I am always so moved by the open displays of unabashed patriotism ... and have always admired you all for it ....

Obie, I also missed this thread...but I thought a lot about what Memorial Day is this year. The Church across from the entrance to my neighborhood had huge American flags all along the road, sort of like silent salutes...

It really made me proud when I saw that some of the newer houses going out to the main road here had taken pursuit and put little hand American Flags at the base of their mailbox poles, also along the road.

It's never too late to say Thank you, Veterans!

Several of my Uncles and cousins have served...and I am proud of all of you.

Take care and God bless...
