I had a spinal cord injury T3 May 2008 and due to broken wrist and a sacreal wound I have had no real rehab and I am looking to start some rehab and I was at the ShepherdCenter last year but was not impressed. Would like to know the leading hospitals for SCI.

I had the same problem, I shattered my wrist and had no weight bearing clearance for 4 or 5 months. Some say that model system centers are the best. I went to Jackson Memorial in Miami and to Miami Physical Therapy Associates (or something like that) both were OK, but my main rehab was meeting others with similar level or SCI injuries and seeing what they could do. Then I realized that there was much more potential and many more tricks and techniques to help me deal with this than what I was tought in rehab.

Hi,
There are varied individual preferences for Rehab Centers but here is the US News and World Report for 100 Best Rehab Hospitals for 2008:
http://www.usnews.com/directories/hospitals/index_html/specialty+REPREHA/state+/page_number+1/page_size+20/sort+/name+/metro_area+/zip+/distance+/detail+less
Hope this helps. I agree with the above that often the people you meet in similar situations give tremendous insight and help.

I went to woodrow wilson rehab in fishersville Virginia back in 1978, always heard it was a relly good one back then, people there from up and down the east coast, didn't see them on the list, I'd image they are still there, state ran back then. do they have a list of the top SCI rehabs?

Kessler was Christopher Reeve's pick. It must be pretty good.
