Hi all,
I've noticed that some SCS patients say they had a laminectomy for their paddled placement, where others say they had a laminotomy. Just wondering..do you know why there is a difference? I had a laminotomy...
Thanks,
Danimal :p

I had a laminectomy, I think because of having pulled the first ones out they wanted to be sure they were properly placed and well sown in.
they also did it with only local so i was completey aware and they could place it for best results, most unpleasant to say the least.
Worst was pushing it down my back subcutaneously for 10-12 inches to the stim device but I only had to deal with 2 3-4inch incisions.
Actually T9-10 where they did it still bothers me
My pain doc said aren't you glad you're you cause if you didn't have such a high pain tolerance it would have been excruciating.
I love my docs (mostly)

oh bill..you poor thing! having a high tolerance, to me, doesn't mean that you don't feel everything the way someone else would...it just means that you keep it to yourself and don't cry, yell or shout the way a lot of people would. ;(
so what exactly did you do to pull out the first one? I'm worried about doing too much activity myself..I'm 10 weeks post op. I still have pain around the battery site and at T8-T10 where my paddle is. And..don't get me started on the tunneling cable!!

I don't really know how I did it. It was winter so not too much activity anyway. over twisting? beats me.
Can't help on this one.
