Hi group,

New to this group but a member of the CES group for many years. Faced with the need to drain a large seroma which is causing me oddles of new pain. I was a anterior / posterior fusion at L4 to S-1 back in 2001 with a 4 day wait in the hospital with complete compression at the thcal sac which left me with neurogenic Bowel and Bladder - cath 3 times a day and perform digital stim as needed.

The reason I post is that I had been on Metadone for pain for years. Sweats and feeling tried (really tired) switched PM doctors which was brave looking back on it. Found a good one and now on 60 mg of this new drug opana ER. Under doctors orders, I am taking it 1x8 hours or 3 times a day. While it is generally perscribed 1 every 12 hours, I was not getting the coverage. I just started the 3 times a day but so far it seems to be doing the trick.

FUnny how when people hear you say Methadone vs. some name they have never heard, they don't look at you the same way!

Thanks for the fourm!

I was on Opana as well. Then because it wasn't quite doing the job, I had the pain pump put in. I am miserable. It is so uncomfortable and all I can think about is getting it out. Has anyone else had any similar feelings?

i had opano short acting, i find that it takes about 40 to 50 mg on one dose to get relef, i never tried the long acting, i was using oxycontin for 24/7 than.
i changed recently from oxyconton to metadone, for 24/7 med, i have much better pain relef, it last much longer than oxycontin. i take the methadone 3 times aq day.
i am having a problem with heat though , and the warm weather that is coming scares me. i find the heat gets worse when i sit. my face over heats at 70 degrees f . i have to have fans on my face , and now , when sitting or lying .
the sweats seem to have gone away, i had them the first couple months, i hope they are gone, they were real bad, i was walking around in winter in a t shirt.
how does the opana er work
? i use fentora for bt pain, it does work usually, as long as i have xanax in my system. it doesnt work as fast as they say, it is supposed to work in minutes, better than the lollipos things. i find it takes a hour for full effect.

Hey Mike,
I was switched to Opana ER when it first came out. Was using percocet at the time. Wanted to go to just Oxycodone because of liver problems with the acetametiphen. I found it to be weaker and more of a drowsie medication. When I asked, the PM doc said the contents are simular to oxycodone plus a dash of dalaudid. Used it for a couple weeks and had to get a special appontment to switch to just straight oxycodone IR. I was turning into a drooler. The difference to me is like a breath of fresh air. As close to normal as can be expected. Some Avenza (morphine er ) at night rolls into the following day without the heavy eyes thing. So, that's my current recipe, plus Klonipin at night too. Everyone's personal chemistry is different. But that's my experience. Wish you luck. Glad to hear that it is working better for you.

Best, Snorp

ps:
I envy you California guys who are getting a bit of pot for some grins during this crappy ride. They check me 4 + times a year @ 800.00 a pop so I can't go near it. Lucky ducks.
