I’m looking for advice on what to do next. I have been taking morphine L. A. for the past 5 years for knee and back pain. In Jan. 08 I decided to see if I could go off of it or at least bring my dose down I talked to my Doc and we got my dose down from 300 mil and day plus 30 mil short acting. To 45 mil L.A. no short acting this was way too little so we started to work back up knowing that I wasn’t looking for total pain relief. In Dec. I fell on the ice and tweaked my back I upped my pain meds to two 30 Mil L.A. per day. I saw two different Docs on my team as always I was honest about the amount of meds that I taking. Both of them refilled my meds and told me to make sure to see my reg. Doc if the pain continued. My back did start feeling better I kept on taking my new amount because after a year of working on it I found the magic amount I have been looking for. I felt really good I could go to work, take care of my house and do all of my PT. Now here is my problem my regular Doc. is on long term personal leave and the monster that took over for him yelled at me for taking medication than straight out said that he has seen people that looked just like me and when their tock screen came back it was either full of illegal drug or no drugs at all. Now instead of receiving a 30 day supply of my medication I now get a one week supply 3 pills per day no brac through meds. This is from a clinic I have been going to for 25 years. I’m back to being in terrible pain 24/7 it is all that I can do to go to work every day yet alone do anything else. In writing this I realize how badly this is bothering me.
Any advice would be appreciated

Not sure what to say, you're obviously in a bind. At this point you might have to simply go hunting for a new doctor.

I'm fortunate to have a dr who knows I'm not into the pain meds, only if I need them. I was on 400 mg of morph sulf. for a yr til I had a back surgery 4 yrs ago, then started weaninggot down to 15 mg Bid, then another surgery. I weaned off then again. But dr still gives me px for more, just incase. It's gold to have a doc trust me, I weaned using Xanax at night, for about a week and a half.
You probably will need to find a new doc, my prim. care doc, flat out said, "I don't prescribe pain meds, but will refer you to a pain clinic" jerk, I was in pain, not a druggie. Like I said, Tx god for my rheumatologist. Good luck.
