I've suffered with typical forms of nerve pain (e.g. stabbing, pins and needles, burning, and one I describe as marrow sucking) in my left shoulder and upper arm area for the past 30 plus years.

During that same period, I've also had one spot on my upper left arm that will, from time to time, get maddeningly itchy, both with and without being stimulated.

I've never though of these two things as being related, but I'm now wondering. Is it possible that this itchiness is just another form of neuropathy/central pain?

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

That can be one form of paresthesia. In other words yeah, it might be related to your central pain.

I'm a t10 complete para (9 yrs.) with burning pain in buttocks and thighs and a gripping, pulling pain in rectal and genital areas.

Every so often, I'll get an unusual feeling in my right side / back that can best be described as a terrible itch. It's definitely in an area where I have no sensation, so scratching doesn't help.

For some crazy reason, the itch seems to coincide with my showers. Fortunately it only lasts, at most, about 15 minutes. Maddening.

I've always thought of it as just another form of neuropathic pain.
