I've not been here for a few months. I have been feeling rather crappy lately. I am about to feel a whole lot crappier.

When I opened my new Rx for gabapentin I was shocked to see the dreaded pale yellow capsules manufactured by Greenstone, rather than the bright orange capsules manufactured by Teva. I was switched to the pale yellow in the past, and experienced severe withdrawal symptoms. No way will I ever take those fakes again! I called my pharmacists and was told Teva is on backorder. It will be months before it will be availabile. I called other pharmacies, with no positive results.

This morning I called Teva for the scoop on where to get the product. Bad news! Their gabapentin production is discontinued!!!

I am weaning myself on gabapentin manufactured by IVAC by alternating with my remaining Tevas. I hope this works because Neurontin is very expensive. What a mess!!!

Is anyone in this stinking boat with me?

I've never known anything other than the pale yellow capsules, the ones with the "G" on the side? They work reasonably well I guess, I never thought to try any others. Guess I've been missing out!

Just checked my gab bottle and the manufacturer is listed as Greenstone. I've had the ones from Teva, too. My pharmacist put a note in the rx bag the first time he had to mix the pills in the same bottle from both Teva and Greenstone, telling me they were the same strength and medication, just from different mft.

I've not noticed any difference when having my rx filled. Sorry you have SoFla.

Happy that Greenstone works for you, LaMem and Zero. It was pure hell for me, and I never want to go there again.

I need to check my new bottle...hope I don't have trouble too. I was "forced" to switch from a name brand to a generic brand once (not Neurontin, another drug) and the generic did not work at all. I had a horrific time and it took me several months to recover from all the chaos it caused.

That's not good news about Teva. I've heard before there are also options available from PurePac and McNeil.

Mine have always been the Purepac brand. I'm taking 600mg tablets now, but even back when I was taking the 300mg, it was Purepac caps. I use Kroger pharmacy and they've never given me the teva brand.

I just checked my husbands, his is the Teva brand and I pick his up at Walmart pharmacy. They just tried to sell me 90 days worth and were'nt out of them. His insurance changed at the beginning of the year, 1500 ded. 80/20 no co-pays. So, we won't be buying the meds 90 days at a time this year!

Anyway, SoFla, maybe your Walmart pharmacy in FL would have Teva brand?

Thanks for the tips to the other manufacturers.

I would try Walmart, but for two reasons. No Walmart nearby, and it would only postpone the inevitable. Sooner or later Walmart will have no Teva.

I think I am tolerating the switch to IVAC okay. I've been alternating Teva and IVAC since yesterday with no problems. I have enough Teva to last a week of alternating. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will be successful.
