Please please please can somone tell me how the heck to stop this?

Every time I open Windows Media Player, a stupid message keeps coming up repeatedly -
"Please wait while Windows configures PhotoGallery". I have to hit cancel loads of times, but it still keeps coming. Sometimes I allow it to continue, but then it always says that it wasn't able to configure (or something).
It's making me really angry.
I've looked in my programs, but can't see it there to delete it.

Fwiw, I have the latest version of WMP.

Do you have an HP printer? Photogallery is and HP thing I think. And I have issues w/ HP software when running on vista .... the live updates cause more problems than they are worth!!

If you have the disc that came w/ the printer, try uninstalling and reinstalling your printer software.

Photo Gallery is a feature of Media Player and has known problems, mainly with installer. There is a new Beta release: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943550 that may help. There should also be an option to uncheck Photo Gallery as the default picture viewer though I think, might be in file types in options.

Thank you sjean and Tman9613. :)

Sjean - funnily enough, sometimes the printer settings window comes up when this happens. It did this morning when the PhotoGallery thing had come up for the umpteenth time. And we do have an HP printer.
We don't have Vista on the main computer though - it's XP.

(I have Vista on my laptop, but I never get this gallery thingy come up on there.)

Tman - we checked for the options, as you suggested, but could find no mention of PhotoGallery anywhere to disable it.
Hmm, so it's a known problem?
If I let it run, after it's tried installing, another message comes up about how it's failed, and something about it needing a disc. I think.
Gonna check out the beta release tomorrow.

Thanks again guys. :thumb:
