Hello, I am new here.

I fell on the ice on 12/24/08 and landed on my right buttocks. At the time the pain was brutal and I had to crawl back into my house.

I have been diagnosed with a 40% compression of my L1 vertebrate.
I do not seem to have a lot of pain at the sight of the fracture, but more on my sides (all along where love handles are and at the point of impact on my buttocks (feels like a really deep bruise and I can barely sit down)

My question to others who have had this type of injury is:
How long did it take for the pain to go away?
Pain seems to go away one day and comes back the next, is this normal?
I would really appreciate anyone’s input on this as I have been laid up for a month now and am normally very active.
Thanks!

Did you have medical treatment immediately? There are some steps they can take right away that aren't possible later. What sort of treatment have you had so far?

I went to ER 3 days after injury and got an x-ray, they said go to orthapedic Dr, the orthapedic sent me to bonescan to make sure this was this was not an old fracture, I did and it was new.
Dr. than told me to take it easy and come back for x-rays every two weeks to make sure it was not getting worse.
As I said earlier I really have no pain in my back now more along my sides. Could this be radiating from my back? I think the L1 is a little higher than where the pain is.
Thanks for any help you may give.
