boot sequence to install xp

its been years since i installed windows xp and would like to know if this is the correct way.
first off, don't i have to set the boot sequence to cd-rom first? then after i install and set up windows , shut down and then on the next start up change the boot sequence to the hard drive first and then cd-rom second.

Hey mate ;)

What you need to do is first go to your bios and check what's your first boot device e.g. HDD/CD-ROM/Floppy?etc.
Configure it to be the CD-Rom.
Then you put your installation CD in and boot the PC. As soon as you see "Press Enter to Boot from CD" you press ENTER.
And from then on you follow the installation instructions.
I'd suggest that you backup all your important data on an external drive just in case ;)
