My old lady got an iPod Nano for Christmas from her brother. Knowing she was getting that, I also got her some Shure 110 earphones to upgrade from the Apple earbuds that came with the Nano. The Shure 110's are quite comfortable, block out ambient noise and fit great...but they don't seem to deliver a good thumping bass. Anyone else try or have an opinion on the Shure 110's? What other earphones do you folks use with your iPods that are good? Thanks.

I have a set of SE 420s. They don't always deliver thumping bass, which admittedly I miss at times (it's easy to get used to exaggerated bass from subs & eq curves that boost low frequencies), but they are extremely accurate in pulling out musical detail. They'll deliver deep bass where it's truly recorded.

I've discovered that lower-quality mp3s (i.e. those recorded @ anything less than 192-256kbps & stripped of upper/lower frequency information to reduce file size) really don't work well with higher-performance earphones. Give the 110s another chance, but listen to them with a CD instead. The issue may actually be the source.
