I know many here don't understand spanish and I find some music in spanish so beautiful and romantic. I have many memories of these songs such as those from my childhood and of love in my past. Being that at times you can't enjoy some music if you don't understand what they are saying, i have decided to translate the words from one of my most beloved singers Roberto Carlos and one of the most memorable songs from my son's father to me. Btw, the title is "La Distancia"(The Distance). Hope you enjoy as much as I do.

Never again did you hear
speak of me
However I continued
thinking about you
In all this nostalgia
that was left
So much time has passed
and never did I forget you

How many times
I thought of returning
and telling you that of my love
nothing changed
But my silence was greater
and in the distance
I die day by day
without you knowing it

The rest of our love was left
very far forgotten by you
Living in the past
still I am
Although all has changed
I know that I will not forget you

How many times
I thought of returning
and tell you that of my love
nothing had changed
But my silence was greater
and in the distance
I die day by day
without you knowing it

I thought to stop loving
you once
Was something so difficult
for me
If sometime my love
you think about me
Keep this presnt and remember
that I never forgot you

How many times I thought
of returning and telling you
that from my love nothing
had changed
But my silence is greater
and in the distance
I die day by day
without you knowing it

How many times
I wanted to return
and tell you that of my love
nothing has changed
But my silence is greater
and in the distance
I die day by day
without you knowing it

:thinking:how to quote the youtube movie

all you have to do is to add "code"(after the watch?v=) from the youtube link between tags....in this case will be [ youtube]V-oquRLcmAM[ /youtube ] & without any space. I've added the spaces just to avoid taking it as a video now

As a guy whose Irish grandparents who came over to the US in the early 1900's, this song always chokes me up. I understand there are 2 possible meanings to the lyrics...both of which are haunting. The first theory is in the very early days, in order to call an army together, the bagpiper went through the fields and valleys playing as he went. The young men fell in behind him and marched off to war. A father knowing his son was to march off to war wrote these lyrics for him.
The second theory is "Danny" has to leave Ireland and emigrate during the Famine. His dear old mother is bidding him farewell and staying in Ireland.

I've been listening to Bette Midler a lot lately and she sings many sad songs. Her voice is elegant and beautiful when singing such songs as I Think It's Going to Rain Today, The Girl Is On to You and He Was Too Good for Me/Since You Stayed Here.

Those three were never commercial singles, but are quite moving if you can give them a listen.

Her Wind Beneath My Wings can make me tear up, especially when watching the movie Beaches. How sad and how sweet it is that death in the end comes for us all.

Yes, that is a very sad song, but most know it due to its popularity (so I didn't mention it ;)). Bette has many songs just as sad for those who want to explore her albums.

Bette Midler is one of those dynamic individuals who has the ability to make you laugh and make you cry. Most of her albums have songs designed to be funny and amusing, while other songs are very moving to the soul.

On her debut The Divine Miss M, she always makes me laugh when she ends the Chapel of Love by telling her back-up singers, "That is a piss ending to a fabulous song."

Or her rendition of Otto Titsling from Beaches. Brilliant lyrics:

One song that makes me start to cry when I hear it is by bluegrass singer Rhonda Vincent and its called "When the Angels Sing". Its off of the album "The Storm Still Rages".
I heard this song only 1/2 hour prior to my Mom calling me to tell me that my Grandpa Nelson had passed away in Jan. 2007.

If anyone can find a way to put it on here, others can listen to parts of it.

I heard this just yesterday for the first time and I had to pull over on my way to work.....

It is by Bucky Covington (from American Idol). I couldnt find the you tube for it.

I'll Walk

We were 18, it was prom night. We had our first big fight. She said "Pull this car over". I did and then I told her, "I don't know what you are crying for". I grabbed her hand, as she reached for the door.

She said, I'll walk. Let go of my hand. Right now I'm hurt, and you don't understand. So just be quiet. And later we will talk. Just leave, don't worry. I'll walk.

It was a dark night, a black dress. Driver never saw her, around the bend. I never will forget the call, or driving to the hospital, when they told me her legs still wouldn't move. I cried, when I walked into her room.

She said, I'll walk. Please come and hold my hand. Right now I'm hurt, and I don't understand. Lets just be quiet, and later we can talk. Please stay, don't worry. I'll walk.

I held her hand through everything. The weeks and months of therapy. And I held her hand and asked her, to be my bride. She’s dreamed from a little girl, to have her daddy bring her down the isle. So from her wheelchair, she looks up to him and smiles.

And says, I'll walk. Please hold my hand. I know that this will hurt, I know you understand. Please daddy don't cry. This is already hard. Let's go, don't worry. I'll walk. http://www.metrolyrics.com/images/l/2147444234.jpg

The following lyrics touched my heart like you have no idea. Am posting the lyrics and the url for you to hear the music by Nightwish with Tarja Turunen. Hope you like it too.

Angels Fall First

An angelface smiles to me
Under a headline of tragedy
That smile used to give me warmth
Farewell - no words to say
Beside the cross on your grave
And those forever burning candles

Needed elsewhere
To remind us of the shortness of our time
Tears laid for them
Tears of love tears of fear
Bury my dreams dig up my sorrows
Oh Lord why
The angels fall first

Not relieved by thoughts of Shangri-La
Nor enlightened by the lessons of Christ
I'll never understand the meaning of the right
Ignorance lead me into the light

Needed elsewhere
To remind us of the shortness of our time
Tears laid for them
Tears of love tears of fear
Bury my dreams dig up my sorrows
Oh Lord why
The angels fall first

Sing me a song
Of your beauty
Of your kingdom
Let the melodies of your harps
Caress those whom we still need

Yesterday we shook hands
My friend
Today a moonbeam lightens my path
My guardian

The leader of the band is tired
And his eyes are growing old
But his blood runs through
My instrument
And his song
is in my soul --
My life has been a poor attempt
To imitate the man
Im just a living legacy

Most of you will not understand the lyrics sung, but it's a beautiful song:

ZPHz6Lvjmt0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPHz6Lvjmt0)

The song is entitled Nous souviendrons nous? (Will we remember us?) In the song, the singer, Mylène Farmer, is expressing kindness to her fans and those who've recognized and loved her. However, she's very sad in the song as she laments how fleeting life is and wondering if we all serve a purpose or if we die in vain. It's a beautiful poetic piece.
