I have renamed this forum "Funding" rather than "Fundraising". Although this seems to be a minor change, the name change puts additional emphasis on what this forum is about, not only about raising money for spinal cord injury care and cure but how it should be spent.

In my opinion, raising money for research is not enough. The community must also pay attention to how the money is spent. Much of the discussion on the Cure Forum has been devoted to this issues. It would be good if we can move some of that discussion to this forum.

Let me clarify further. Topics such as laws against cloning and so on should continue to be discussed on the Cure Forum since it really pertains to progress in cure and obstacles to cure. However, when it comes to budgetary issues, how government and organizations are prioritizing research, and what criteria are used to fund research, I think that such topics should be discussed here.

What do you think?

Dr. Young,

Your rationale for changing the name and re-routing some cure topics to funding sounds reasonable to me. I believe people just naturally gravitate to the cure forum as it is more active and read than other forums. Maybe the moderator's should step in a little quicker to get the topics posted to the correct place.

Now we'll have a more inclusive forum to post articles relating to the business and corporate side of care/cure research and funding.
