Cheesecake,

You can check out the Misty Mate at www.mistymate.com, (http://www.mistymate.com,) I have also found a similar type of product at believe it or not Petco. Someone make a knock off targeted to dogs who hike. All I know is it works well in areas with lower humidity, Misty Mate also makes a hose type thing you can hang around a patio and tie into the garden hose. We have used one of these at car races when we've had a tent set up. Just use wireties to the top of the 'EZ UP' and tie into a garden hose and 4 quads and 8 dogs did great for 2 days in 90+ heat.

Hubby is fine he never made it past the "I'm getting warm" stage. At our house for outings like this we have the following critera
1. I'm getting warm, squirt me down
2. I'm getting warm, squirt me down and find shade (I can just watch him)
3. I'm getting warm, time for water over the shoulders (Watch close-track pupils and pulse)
4. I'm hot, pour water over my head(I usually start suggesting it's time to leave and keeping a close eye on i/o)
5. I'm hot, time to head for air conditioning(
6. I'm hot, head for the nearest hospital

In 20 years of marriage and his 30 years of injury he had never made it past "I'm hot, pour water over my head". I guess lucky for us I usually poop out from the heat before he does. But then he's always been a sun worshiper, he starts early in the year and spends as much time outside as he can. Darn man doesn't even burn.

We did try the vest thing but he didn't like it. Funny thing was I ended up cooling down a guy with a vest on at the airshow.

I was amazed at how many people TAB and not went to something like this totally unprepared - no water, umbrellas, sunscreen nothing. When we do this we have the umbrellas, misters, 16oz of water per hour for each of us cold in a cooler plus 2 gallons of extra water in a coleman jug, 1 gallon of water frozen, hats, sunglasses, a couple of towels. I feel like I'm moving us to mars when loading the van. I looked at all those people drinking sodas and beer, no hats, no sunscreen wonder how they feel today
