This study showed that the cost for treatment for HIV is about $34,000/year. That is about the same amount as for caregiving for a complete quad accorrding to the same institution(UAB).

I'd support that figure; between aide salaries and lost work time (which may push it even higher - I didn't work for the first two years after my son's injury, and only then went back to work part time).
