Does anyone know what if any Federal Income tax reductions there are for a Caregiver taking care of a totally dependent SCI person in their home?

Depends on your relationship to the injured person and whether your state pays related people to be caregivers. If the person is a spouse or child you will mainly be allowed deductions for making the home accessible and for medical payments above and beyond the 7.5% rule. If you pay other caregivers you may be able to deduct their federal, state and SSA taxes you withhold, if you withhold. Your local library should have the required pamplets or ask at your nearest IRS office for the information pamplet on disability and medical expenses.

There is a deduction for Adult dependent care. The adult has to be defined as disabled by Social Security and the dependent care must be medically necessary and a scrip for it be in place. The deductions are only after you have paid a hefty part of your income. We have never hit the $$ amount yet. Check IRS website at www.irs.gov (http://www.irs.gov) to request the form
