Perhaps you have read this link that I have found very interesting. It appears the Apple has jumped right into the PDA business. I have a Palm TX and my son has a Treo. Neither of these devices has anywhere near the vivid images and color present with the iphone or IPod touch. Also the memory is much larger then either of these two devices. It seems that it is only a matter of time before the Apple devices have all of the functionality of the PDA devices.

But, as usual, Apple likes to keep it in the family.. I think what will happen is PDA will start to get better screens and media ability.

I have a Treo 750 and haven't even started to explore the apps avalible to Win Mobile.

I do agree, Iphones are top mobile media phones!

ha... this 2.0 software upgrade process is a mess today. I couldn't connect to the iTunes server for a while to finish the setup. Go figure. Apple released the 3G version of the iPhone, an iTunes update, and an OS update all in a day... no wonder their servers are hurting. Poor planning... ugh.

It works though... took trying a few times.

Apple should have made an unlocked phone that you can use with any carrier.

Does any cell phone manufacturer produce an unlocked phone that can be used with any carrier.

Yes but sorta. The sorta is because of the different format/carrier type.

YOU have to get the right model, then yes any phoone of that type will work, and each phone model has different features.

People here in cnada had cracked iphones, even though we couldn't get them.

If you're lookin for a specific phone that can, That i can't tell you.

Initially Steve Jobs said we are not only changing the way phones are designed, but we are changing the way they are sold and the way plans are done by simplifying it, and now all of that seems to have gone out the window. Apple should have sold an unlocked GSM phone like Nokia has done!

I have the 1st one and the upgrade to 2.0 was a little rough but well worth the hassle. The new app's and the potential they bring are pretty amazing. Can't imagine a better phone for me.

Mateo, I have an original 16gb iphone. I don't see very much difference since I upgraded with exception to Apple store link, easy delete for e-mail.
I'm feeling it's a tad slower since I upgraded yesterday.

What was your hassle? It took maybe 30 min. to complete but for me, syncing the songs and bookmarks took the longest.

ETA; I agree, I love my iphone and imo, our metal version is nicer looking than the new plastic black or white version ;)

My only foray into fancy phones was a Treo 650. Shortly thereafter I realized that all I wanted to do was fricken call people. My next phone will be whatever freebie is offered with a cheap plan.

Oh, I also have a Zaurus 5500. Coolest useless piece of technology I've ever purchased.

Lorrie, I upgraded to 2.0 on Friday. My phone locked up for a couple of hours. Apple opening up the iphone to outside developers will allow for some incredible applications. You can already see some of what's possible already. I downloaded 8 to 10 and they seam pretty fun/useful.

You left out that "fantastic" calculator upgrade.

Luckily my phone did not lock up.
LOL I like the Tarot card reader, PocketBar & CityMint :) but they really don't seem much different than bookmarks, front screen.

Will they ever fix how we receive photos and videos? grrr

I had to return my new iPhone 5 times due to defects. THe new iPhones have LCD problems. I had huge dead pixels in 3 of the 5 phones, and my LCD screen did not meet the edge/case of the phone properly producing a gap or large slit. They have recalled the chargers for the new iPhones due to complaints that the chargers were getting stuck inside power outlets.

FRING (http://www.fring.com/) is a program that adds Skype too many cell phones including the iPhone. The folks up in Cupertino will most likely kill it (Fring).
