I would love to be able to use a computer when I'm in bed. Because I'm a high quad and use a mouth stick for typing and mouse movement a regular size keyboard and mouse would be somewhat unruly.
Here's my solution for computing in bed.
If you have an HDTV with a D-sub or DVI connector, simply hook up a computer to it and head over to logitech and pick up the worlds smallest wireless keyboard/mouse called diNovo Mini.
This is a great solution although somewhat pricey.

Depends on your system, but bed side tables work pretty well too. The mice in this picture are no longer available, but a normal mouse does work as long as it has a low hand grip.

Looks like a good setup. Since I already have an HDTV with a d-sub connector and an extra computer, The diNovo Mini keyboard would work great.

run a monitor cable & a microphone cable to a table next to your bed and use voice software.

Our OTs had our carpenters make us some really nice laptop tables that can be used with a mouthstick even when laying completely flat such as when laying down in a Clinitron bed. The tables resemble an overbed table except that the top rotates 180 degrees. The laptop is held in place with a couple of straps or velcro, and the top of the table adjusted to the correct angle, and a mouthstick dock is also incorporated. It rolls over the bed just like an overbed table, so the nurses just move it in place for the patient when needed.
I am off work at a meeting for the next week, but I can get pictures after that if anyone is interested.

I've been using that set up for a three or four years (I seem to be extremely prone to bedsores). I got a rolling countertop thing from Big Lots (a discount store chain in California). I took an accordion-style desk lamp and took the lamp off, and replaced it with a microphone. I use Dragon naturally speaking, and have had no problems with it.
With the cabinet on wheels, it can be rolled to either side of the bed.
Right now, for instance, the cabinet is about 15-20 feet from the computer desk (with the tower, UPS, printer, etc.).
And you get used to reading the monitor screen at an angle...

I actually would be very interested in a picture if you could get one sometime KLD (no rush on it...I can wait). I am using a Clinitron bed right now and we are continually tweaking my system trying to get something that is more workable. Any ideas we could get from others would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Hi - have you ever tried the Magic Wand keyboard? I'm a C2-C3 and have been using a Magic Wand for 15 years. It's very simple, requires no pressure to activate the keys.

These are the best. Just use a pop-up "on screen" keyboard...

I'm a high Quad and when on bedrest i use the same tables you get issued in UK spinal units. see attached.
Lying flat in bed i jack up the table angle and put my laptop on top. I use a laptop with no hands via a tracker IR from natural point.
It is controlled by my head movements triggered from a baseball cap with a sensor on the peak.

I am a C4-C5 quad and was laid in bed for quite some time about three years ago with the pressure sore purchased a fold up laptop table put it on the side of the bed installed Dragon NaturallySpeaking and used my Kensington trackball mouse which I would not give it up for anything. Kensington trackball mouse buttons are programmable for left click, right-click, drag, double-click etc..
This is my computers from bed (the Mac is down there too). If I want I can pull up to the counter on the other side in the wheelchair.
There is a printer and another 1 and 1/2 computers at the other end of the house.
Took the picture on the cell phone and then finally (today figured out how to get them onto the PC) posted them here.
Its all in the arm.
Notice my giant jug next to the bed, I drink a lot of water.
I purchased from Micro Center an Adesso WKB-4000US (http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0228116) small touchpad keyboard for in bed. Using it at desktop also right now, my regular touchpad one broke.
Now have to get a good wireless headset for DNS.
I also looked into that diNovo Mini keyboard, but would be too small for me. Also the bigger diNovo keyboard and that is too big since I put it on pillow and it has to fit the width part. I like the Adesso and it doesn't interfer with my wireless network. I just hope it's fine if I ever get a wireless headset like hybrid Plantronics CS70N or hybrid Samson Airline 77 or whatever.
