Nevermind, I got it...
Most of the picture editing software give you quality option.. If you play with the file type and file quality you can make it 500kb.....

I always use a program called VSO Image Resizer. It compresses my 1 MB pictures down to about 200KB. Very useful tool. Has a context menu for easy access.
