your regular doctor should be able to try cymbalta or rise your neurotin level.
neurontin levels usually need to be adjusted, it would be common to raise it to 1800.o and then 2400

Thank you for your response. I have tried cymbalta but was unable to take it. My doctor said I was reaching my max on neurontin and lyrica. When I mention meds for "breakthough pain" she always avoids it and refers to the pain clinic. I can't seem to get her to understand that i should not be in pain for two months when I feel she could do somethng more. It is soo frustrating! But again, thank you for the response.

Sorry to hear of your pain. I too suffer with at times insane neuropathic pain. As for the doc not listening, hard to say it but if your physician is not "listening" to you when you try to describe what you are going through, then time to see someone else who will take the time to listen. There are many things he can prescribe to "tide you over" the breakthrough pain levels that will not become addictive. If that is the reasoning behind trying to push the pain managment physician. From what I have read the pain management doc's are very good at what they do. I personally have never seen one but I too am on the "waiting list" to see one. How long have you had your condition?

thanks for the response, i have had diabeties for about 8 years but the neuropathy just started about a year ago and has gotten worse over the months. I do have a doctors appt. with a new doc tomorrow. Someone else also suggested that it was time to change docs also.

you need to se a pain clinic, they are more adept at prescribing meds, neuroontin is common to prescribe over 3200mg a day for pain.
lyrica it is common to prescribe over 300 mg a day for pain.
pain clinic would be more familiar for this.
ultram/ tramodol is also a pretty good non narcotic analgesic med for bt pain, it also comes in 24 hour extended relief.
ultram is not supposed to be habit forming, but i doubt that, cause you can get a euphoric effect.

Thanks again for the response.

Saw two doctors today explained about not being able to get into the pain clinic until august and they were very understanding. They did that test with the pin where they have you close your eyes and tell them when you feel the prick. THey tested 5 areas on each foot and said out of 10 I only felt 4. THey gave me enough vicodin to last till august and have to go back in a month to recheck blood pressure. Which i am sure will come down once the pain subsides.

Thanks again
