View Full Version : Avigen Clinical Trial of AV650 (tolperisone) for neuromuscular spasms in SCI

Avigen Inc. in Alameda California is developing an experimental drug called AV650 or tolperisone. This drug has been in clinical use for more than 40 years in European countries, Japan, and South America. The objective of this double-blind study is the evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetic profile, and preliminary efficacy of AV650 administered three times a day compared to placebo.

Subjects that may qualify must meet the following criteria:
• Are between the ages of 18 to 70
• SCI levels C4 to T12
• ASIA B, C, and D
• Have had spinal cord injury for 6 or more months.

Is this the same drug going thru trial with Dr. Lisk? I am participating in that one, I believe this is the same drug.

The trial is actually pretty high tech, you have to upload data thru your phone every night on how you feel etc etc.

If this is the same drug, I'll keep everyone posted on the results, so far, from what I am hearing, it's working great. Can't wait for the paper work to arrive!
