Avigen Inc. in Alameda California is developing an experimental drug called AV650 or tolperisone. This drug has been in clinical use for more than 40 years in European countries, Japan, and South America. The objective of this double-blind study is the evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetic profile, and preliminary efficacy of AV650 administered three times a day compared to placebo.
Subjects that may qualify must meet the following criteria:
• Are between the ages of 18 to 70
• SCI levels C4 to T12
• ASIA B, C, and D
• Have had spinal cord injury for 6 or more months.
