ASAP (American Syringomyelia Alliance Project) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established on May 31,1988. Our vision is a world without the devastating effects of Syringomyelia, Chiari Malformations and related disorders. ASAP publishes a newsletter for members on a regular basis. Other services ASAP provides include written material on Syringomyelia (SM) and Chiari Malformations (CM), videotapes of lectures by prominent neurosurgeons, an annual conference to bring people with SM/CM together, and a networking project so people with SM/CM may contact one another. ASAP's goals include: increasing public awareness of the existence of the disorder and its devastating effects; urging research efforts and raising funds to find all causes, to develop new treatments, and to improve existing treatments; coordinating the efforts of organizations working towards improving the lives of people with Syringomyelia and/or Chiari.
