I have terrible pain. I am never comfortable. I have worst than most spasticity. I can not sleep worth anything.
For pain: I have been prescribed percocet, vicoden, hydromorphone, and now oxicontin. Nothing worked and the oxicontin is not working either. I am taking 20mg twice a day. I often double and sometimes triple (please don't reply that I am an addict or have a problem because I don't.... thus why I am asking), and still does nothing for my pain. Is there anyone else out there who has this problem? What do you do about it?
In regards to comfort: My doctor just prescribed me valium. Started at 5mg in the Am and 10mg at PM. Again, did nothing for me. She increased it to 0 in AM and 20mg at PM. Again, nothing. Anyone else have that problem? What do you do?
In regards to spasticity: 60mg AM, 60mg lunch, and 80mg PM. Nothing. My legs shake and when I lay down my legs pull and stiffen up like trees. Very painful and adds to no sleep or rest. Doctor added 8mg of zanaflex 3x per day as well. Nothing. I am going in for a baclofen pump trial shortly.
Neoronic (sp?) pain: I am taking 1200mg of gabapentin 3x per day. This does help 50% of the time. Anyone else have this problem and what do you do?
Sleep: Was prescribed ambien 10mg at night. Allowed me to sleep for 3 hours everynight. I doubled it to 20mg and I slept great all night, but doctor told me it was unsafe and now that I am using valium, she discontinued the ambien. What do you do?
Isn't there anything I can take for the pain, discomfort/anxiety, sleep?
I am afraid to think that I am stuck with these terrible problems forever.
what do you all do? Any advice?

Have you been seeing a pain specialist? They often know the tricks of what works for one person but may not for another.

My gawd, you sound like my pains from all the last 20 yrs put together, all but spasit. I've had lupus for 32 yrs and btween that and 13 back surgeries til the last screwedup fusion caud equined me, I was a mess at timnes. It's so hard to know whats doin what when on so many. I have been lucky to have the adv, of having a class 1 rheumatologist who really can help w/ pain and recently my sci doc's also. I also take some effexor, but doc wouldn't increase that due to poss of higher bp.I made the mistake b4 of just stopping morph. cause I didn't really have anymore pain after parapl. Boy was I wrong, so I have a base dose of 15-30mg, and bump along w/ alprasolam.25-.5 to try to stop stabbing pain every 13-20 sec's. I think main thing is get a good pain dr to balance. Good luck

Good luck with the baclofen pump trial. I had a pumpt put in strictly to help with my high tone, so that I could function better, but I fell it has also lessened some of my pain.
