Having surgery next Monday

Well I'm going in for surgery next Monday (June 16) on my spine. They are going through the neck to remove the excess bone on my vertebrae at C5-C6, which is pinching a nerve. They are also removing the disc. I'm really nervous about the surgery for some reason. I keep hearing my doctor saying it's possible you could die (3%) from the surgery or be horse for the rest of your life. I just hope everything works out. Has anyone else had this kind of surgery?

I can understand why you'd be nervous about that kind of surgery. Not the most pleasant thought to consider someone going in through the front of your neck. I know one of person who did that, I think it was for a fusion. They came out of it, but I know they were plenty nervous going in, as well.

Thanks all, I'm just nervous because I have to go under the knife. Just hope I everything goes as planned and I will be back to normal as soon as possible.

I'm still nervous about this. I called this morning and they said I have to be there at 6AM!!! Oh my god, will anyone be awake enough to do the surgery????? LOL

I'm home today and everything well with the surgery. I'm sore as expected, I have stay in bed for a couple of days. The doctor said I did have a hernated disc that he removed, the disc was pinching a nerve that was causing the pain in my left arm. I don't have any pain in my left arm anymore, so I think he fixed my problem.

I want to thank everyone that had me in their thoughts and prayers because I believe that helped me though the surgery and my recovery.
